Frequently Asked Questions

About the Artist and Work

Who is Lee Mohr?

Lee Mohr is a Seattle-based artist creating nature-inspired abstract landscapes that offer a sense of calm, presence, and reflection. Her work draws from the quiet beauty of the natural world, blending intuition and intention through layered brushwork and soft, earthy color palettes. Each painting is designed to help collectors, designers, and art lovers create meaningful and grounded spaces.

What inspires your artwork?

My work is deeply inspired by the natural world and the spiritual connection I find within it. While many of my paintings begin with a specific landscape or place, the creative process becomes one of distillation, refining what I’ve seen and felt into images that offer a sense of clarity, harmony, and quiet resonance. I’m drawn to the visual poetry of our observable world and aim to create work that invites you to experience that sense of wonder.

What mediums do you work in?

My approach blends structured planning with spontaneous intuition. Influenced by Sumi brushwork and the Mystic Painters of the Northwest, I work in oil glazes and velaturas on canvas or panel, building up subtle, textural layers. The resulting pieces reflect both the outer landscape and my inner response to it - anchored in reality, yet reaching toward something more ethereal.

Are your paintings original or prints?

All paintings are original works. Prints and note cards will be available for sale in Fall of 2025.

How long does it take to complete a painting?

Each painting takes approximately 3-4 months to complete.

Artwork Details

Are your paintings framed?

My paintings are not framed. I encourage clients to have them custom framed to suit their own interior style and space. Each piece is created on canvas or cradled panel with clean edges, so it’s ready to hang as-is or to be professionally framed if you prefer a finished look.

What are the sizes and materials used?

Most of my work is painted in oil on either canvas or cradled panel, using layered glazes and velaturas to create depth and texture. Sizes vary, but I work primarily in small to medium formats - each piece is carefully scaled to match the intimacy and mood of the landscape I’m trying to capture. Exact dimensions and materials are listed with each painting.

Is the painting signed or dated?

Yes, all of my original paintings are signed, usually on the back, along with the date. I prefer to keep the front of the work visually quiet, but I’m happy to sign the front on request.

Purchasing and Commissions

How can I purchase a painting?

Available paintings are listed on my website, and you can purchase directly through each artwork’s page. If you see something you love or have questions about a piece, feel free to reach out. I also work directly with interior designers and art consultants on projects and placements.

Do you accept commissions or custom work?

Yes, I welcome commissions and collaborative projects. I often work with interior designers and art consultants to create custom pieces that suit a specific space, color palette, or scale. If you have a vision in mind - or simply a feeling you want the work to evoke - I’d love to hear about it.

What is the process and timeline for a commissioned piece?

The process begins with a conversation about your needs, space, and preferences. From there, I’ll develop initial sketches or concepts for review. Once we agree on direction, I begin the painting. Commissions typically take 8-16 weeks from start to finish, depending on the scale and complexity. I keep you updated along the way, and always ensure the final work feels right before it’s delivered.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! Payment plans are available through Afterpay, which allows you to collect your artwork now and pay over time in interest-free installments. You’ll see the Afterpay option at checkout when purchasing available work through the website. If you’re interested in using Afterpay for a commission, just reach out and I’ll be happy to walk you through the process.
